As part of their May 4 meeting, the Gila County Board of Supervisors presented recognition awards to the six members of the County Fair and Racing Commission and formally acknowledged the members’ resignation.
“The members of this commission have selflessly given their time and effort for many years to support the county fair and racing events at the fairgrounds,” County staff noted.
“It’s been a rewarding experience these past 40 years,” said Commission Chairman Bill Byrne, who notified the county of the members’ resignation on Feb. 25, 2021. “It’s just come to the time when we need to move on, and hopefully some new blood will come in. Our deepest desire is to see the fairgrounds continue to grow.”
