GLOBE — The Copper Cities Community Players (The Players) will present four one-act plays at the Cobre Valley Center for the Arts on September 6, 7, and 8. These short plays were selected by The Players from entries submitted to a recent contest in June that encouraged members of the public to try their hands at creating an original one-act play. Audience members will vote for their favorite play after the performances and the winning playwright will be recognized.
The plays are: “A Meaning in a Flash”, a man’s journey through the light to find a soulmate, written and directed by Cecil Anthony Valdez-Hernandez V; “Eddie & Edna”, two people who lived and loved too long to forget, written by Donald Luftus and directed by G. “Willy” Thomas; “The Scholarship”, the past and present collide in a story of regret and forgiveness between two old friends. written and directed by Laura Stennerson and “The Blunder”, what happens when a cynical lovesick romantic, a bumbling idiot and a schizophrenic ring leader try to pull off the biggest heist a small town has ever seen, written and directed by Jason Marr, with creative contributions from Rudy Amador and Bill Roten.
Performances will take place at the Old Courthouse Theater on Friday, September 6 at 7pm, Saturday, September 7 at 7pm, and Sunday afternoon, September 8 at 2pm. Tickets are $10 and can be reserved or purchased at the Cobre Valley Center for the Arts located at 101 N. Broad St. in downtown Globe. 928-425-0884.
As always, all proceeds from ticket sales will be used for the maintenance and improvement of the Cobre Valley Center for the Arts.
