Work has begun on a project to replace the Upper Pinal Creek Bridge (aka Connie’s Bridge), after the City of Globe awarded a contract to Meridian Construction Company, a Tucson-based firm, on November 22.
Meridian started bringing equipment to the site and other preparatory work as well as utility coordination and relocation, beginning with potholing on December 20. The project site will soon be fenced for the safety of work crews and the public. Meridian crews started setting up traffic control, followed by removals and underground waterline relocation work starting January 2. Motorists are advised to drive safely through the project site. The existing Connie’s Bridge will remain open throughout the project, which is scheduled to be complete in late fall 2023.
A groundbreaking ceremony was scheduled for January 10.
