Claude Franklin Boggs, 98, a 72-year resident of Globe passed away peacefully at home on May 14, 2018. He was born November 27, 1919 in Tushka, Oklahoma, to parents John Franklin Boggs and Molly Elizabeth Hughey.

A Celebration of Life Service was held on Tuesday, May 22 at the River of Life Church with the Reverend Tony Blevins officiating.

Lamont Mortuary of Globe will transport Mr. Boggs to Savanna Cemetery, Savanna, Oklahoma to be buried with his family. Bishop Funeral Services in McAlester will handle the graveside service; however, the date is pending.

Our father was a man of integrity and hard work. His parents were Oklahoma farmers with intermittent stints in Arizona to work in the mining field, only to return to Oklahoma.

In 1946 Claude relocated his young family permanently to Arizona to where he worked in the copper mines. Work was his passion. Even in his spare time he worked on projects at home. He would go to work even when he was sick.

He resided on a hillside where his love of hard work allowed him to haul his own rock and build rock walls around his entire property. After retirement at age 62, he took over the kitchen and crafted many of his own recipes.

He loved to fish and he had quite the green thumb. He would can fruits and vegetables. His favorite thing to take to church functions was small fried fruit pies.

He was an avid card player and taught his children that it is ok to lose, but you always strive to win.

Mornings and evenings were his relaxing times on his cool porch where the breeze was always blowing, and he could enjoy Sleeping Beauty Mountain so close.

Claude and his late wife attended The Miami Assembly of God for 27 years. The past five years Claude and his son, David Frank stayed close to home caring for him, while faithfully attending The River of Life Church in Central Heights.

Claude Boggs married Ida Mae Smith September 27, 1941 and they had four children. His survivors include his daughter, Claudene Kalaboke, of West Frankfort, Illinois, son, David Frank Boggs, of Globe, Arizona and daughter, Ruth and son-in-law Maurice Holthaus, of Tucson, Arizona.

He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Lizzie Boggs, his wife Ida Mae of 67 years, his firstborn daughter, “Bette” Gregory and one grandson, David Silivan, who resided with them for five years.

Claude is survived by his three children, 11 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren and five great-great grandchildren.
