Miami High School held its 103rd commencement on Friday, May 25, as 52 Vandals crossed Ragus Field to claim diplomas after years of hard work. The stands of the stadium were filled with a raucous crowd releasing balloons and firing confetti cannons as students were called forward as a final act in their high school careers. The Miami High School Concert Band played “Pomp and Circumstance,” “The National Anthem,” and, of course, the Miami Vandals’ fight song. Valedictorian Sarah Griego not only welcomed friends and family to the event, but also made her way to the podium several times to speak. Salutatorian Daniel Skaggs, Third in Class, Jade McLaughlin and Fourth in Class, Nolan Gordan gave rousing speeches on many aspects of Vandal life. Principal Glen Lineberry presented the class and Miami Unified School District President Paul Licano awarded diplomas in the setting Gila County sun.
