SAN CARLOS–Make sure to pre-register by the deadline Aug. 16 for a scenic half-marathon, that’s  13.1 miles, around San Carlos Lake on Aug. 24. Photos from last year’s event show the finish line on top of Coolidge Dam, the picturesque finale to a run that begins at 5:30 a.m.  Registration is $15 per person; and both runners pay $15 if you compete as a two-person relay team. Organizers report last year’s fastest time overall was 1:42:09. And how about this for a courteous touch: lodging is available the Friday night before the race at Burdette Hall, allowing runners to rest well -- and avoid an early morning drive on race day. And rides will be offered to the starting  line, too! Questions about lodging, the courtesy shuttle, or other details?  Call Arthur Salter at  (928) 475-2483, or email  him at chief_17cav@yahoo.com.
