Christopher Michael Gonzales, 46, of Globe, Ariz., passed away on April 8, 2019 in Globe, Ariz.

Chris was born in Mesa, Ariz. to Art and Viola Gonzales on Nov. 13, 1972. He went to school in the Kearny, Hayden-Winkelman area.

He grew up roughhousing with his three brothers and playing sports like wrestling and football. In 1990, Chris graduated from Ray High School and in 1992 he moved to Globe.

Once in Globe, Chris worked for the Arizona Eastern Railway company and worked construction for several years.

In his later years, he loved being outside and landscaping his yard in addition to other people’s yards. He enjoyed visiting the mountains, cooking out, hunting, fishing, the river and going to the casino. Above all, Chris enjoyed visiting with his grandkids. They brought him a tremendous amount of joy.

Chris is preceded in death by his father Art Gonzales, and his brothers, Terry Gonzales and Derrick Gonzales.

Chris is survived by his mother Viola Gonzales; his grandmother, Teresa Pena; his wife, Mary Helen Avalos; his children, Christopher Gonzales, Joseph Gonzales, Joshua Gonzales and Justin Gonzales; his brother, Art Gonzales; his many nieces and nephews; his godchildren, Katie and Derrick, Jr. Gonzales; and his pride and joy grandchildren, Aaliyah and Joseph, Jr. Gonzales.

Memorials may be given to Lamont Mortuary of Globe.

The family of Chris wishes to extend our sincere thanks to Lamont Mortuary, Father George, Mayor Al Gameros and Irene Gameros, and all the family and friends who have given their condolences.

The viewing, rosary and service took place on Monday, April 15, 2019 at the Our Lady of the Blessed Sacrament in Miami, with Father George officiating.

A small luncheon followed in the Our Lady of the Blessed Sacrament hall.
