Charles Stafford “Tex” Gayle

Charles Stafford Gayle was born in Hampton, VA. to John William and Vera Mae Gayle on April 17, 1937. He loved Virginia, he often told many stories about growing up there with his three siblings, Billy, Vera Lee and Kathryn.

He joined the U.S. Airforce in 1955 at the age of 18 and proudly served the next four years traveling to many places including France and Germany.

Even as a child he had a great love for horses, westerns and all thing “Cowboy” so in 1970 he moved out west to Arizona, where he met the love of his life, Patricia Cook. Patricia had six children who he loved dearly as his own. They married, added two more daughters to their family and lived happily together in the Globe/Miami area for over 37 years, making many good friends and countless precious memories. He worked as a machinist in the mines there for many years before retiring in 1997. What he loved the most was hunting, trapping, fishing and many moments spent with his grandkids. They moved to Gilbert, Ariz. in 2007 but have always considered Globe/Miami “Home”.

He passed away peacefully after a short battle with cancer on Nov. 19, 2019 and is preceded in death by his beloved wife Patricia, parents John and Vera, infant son Stephen, son Jimmy, brother Billy, grandson Bryan and daughter-in-law Lisa.

He is survived by his children, Cristy (Jay) Garcia, Stacey (Joseph) De La Torre, Dan Gayle, Mike Katich, Sharon (Rick) Shanklin, Jana Katich, Kimberley Katich, Lori Galvan, Misti Kaitch, Stafford Gayle and Kevin Brady. Also, his sisters Vera Lee and Kathryn and many many grandchildren and great grandchildren.

He was a classic cowboy, a country gentleman, an all-around good man and a wonderful father and grandfather. He will be greatly missed.

Services will be held on Friday, Dec. 6, 2019 at 11 a.m. at Bulman Miles Funeral Chapel Globe.
