SAN CARLOS — The Braves Robotics Team of San Carlos High School, known as the Circuit Breakers, fared well at the Chandler Qualifying Tournament on Jan. 26 at Valley Christian High School in Chandler, Ariz.
Renevie Magboo, physical science teacher and robotics team coach, explained the students played five qualification matches and won four of the five matches placing them in the top four.
“The team became one of the alliance captains of the 23 competing schools,” she said. “They played a more challenging semi-final round with their two selected alliance partners.”
Magboo said she is extremely proud of the students and thanks all of the staff at San Carlos High School for their support and help to prepare the students for the competition — as she calls — “a real-world engineering experience.”
“Congratulations to the Braves Robotics Team!” she said.
Magboo also acknowledged Steve Key for all the technology-related support for the team.
The team includes: Reppert Cassadore, III, team programmer; Brandon Johnson, Mario Martinez, Kaden Phillips and Xavior Hooke, team builders; Alexis Phillips, team vice president; and John King, Porsha Hopkins, Jodi King, Gabrielle Talkalai and Ceano Steele, team engineering notebook writers and materials keepers.
The team is now preparing for the state championship tournament scheduled Feb. 23 at Northern Arizona University in Flagstaff, Ariz.
