The San Carlos Braves baseball team was able to hold its own against No. 2 ranked San Manuel on Friday, March 15 in San Manuel losing 1-4 in seven innings.
Pitchers Eliah Victor for the Braves and Miner pitchers gave up few walks.
In the top of the first, the Braves failed to score although Reppert Cassadore, III and Charles Mendoza, Jr. got on base. In his at bat, Miner Tamayo, got on base and Chaves batted him in before C. Estrada flied out to left field for the third out.
In the second inning DeAndre Dude got on second and TayAndre Wright brought him in.
In bottom of the inning the Braves were able to hold San Manuel scoreless, but even though Eliah Victor was able turn a double into a triple by theft in the top of the third, nobody got home.
In the bottom of the inning, Tamayo got on second for the Miners and was batted in again by L. Chavez making the score 2-1. In the fourth inning Laguna was able to send Quijada home for the Miners. Score, 3-1
In the fifth inning, Cassadore and Victor went down to the second baseman and Mendoza struck out looking.
When the Miners came up to bat, Dude snagged a fly and Victor cut down the next two batters with called strikes.
In the sixth inning the Miners scored their last run after the Braves went down 1-2-3.
The braves were unable to score in the top of the seventh, which made the final score 4-1 Miners.
