Posted

The Gila County Board of Supervisors spent first week of March in Washington, DC at the National Association of Counties (NACo) Legislative Conference speaking up for the needs of Gila County residents at the federal level.

Supervisors Tommie Martin (Dist. 1), Tim Humphrey (Dist. 2), and Woody Cline (Dist. 3) all attended the conference.

The trip is an important opportunity for County leaders from across the U.S. to come together to elevate Gila County’s voice at the national level.

Some highlights of the trip included:

The Western Interstate Region meeting: WIR is dedicated to the promotion of Western interests, such as public land issues and the Western way of life;

Arizona County Supervisors Day at the White house, featuring talks with leaders from the Veterans Administration, Department of Energy and others;

One-on-ones with lawmakers, such as Senator Jeff Flake, Representative Tom O’Halleran and Representative Paul Gosar; and,

NACo public lands steering committee meeting, of which Martin is the chair.
