BHP, City of Globe to hold Town Hall on Old Dominion Mine Park

The Old Dominion Mine Park (ODMP) was closed in September 2021 for drilling and maintenance activity. The park was originally scheduled to be closed from Sept. 12, 2021 to Jan. 31, 2022, but as BHP went through the project it became apparent that additional work needed to be done. As a result, the park was closed indefinitely. As the owner and responsible party of the Old Dominion site, this was not an easy decision for BHP to make. The history of this community and the role Old Dominion plays is well known, and while BHP cannot give a date for reopening at this time they commit to ongoing transparency and discussions with the community.

To facilitate the community discussion, BHP is holding a Town Hall with the City of Globe to discuss the park closure, recreation alternatives and their ongoing commitment to the community. The town hall will be held on Tuesday, May 3, 2022 at 5:30 p.m., in the Globe City Council Chambers.
