Lifelong resident, Augustine “Augie” O. Alvarado, age 89, of Globe. passed away Wednesday, June 28, 2017. She was born on Aug. 28, 1927 in Winkelman,. Augustine was a Registered Nurse at the Gila General Hospital and then transferred to Heritage Health Care, from where she retired. Augustine was very family oriented and loved being with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren and she attended all their school functions and sports events. Augustine enjoyed reading, going to the casino and she had a green thumb for gardening.

Augustine was a very giving person, if she had it and you needed it, it was yours, especially for all her grandchildren.

Augustine was preceded in death by her loving and adoring husband, Frank D. Alvarado; her beloved parents, Jose “Dutch” Ortega and Agripinia Ortega; her loving and caring sisters, Pauline Miller, Mercy Johnson, Lucy Weist and twin sisters, Lena Ortega and Linda Boker; her loving and caring four brothers, Freddy, Joe, Ted and Ray Ortega; and her beautiful infant great-granddaughter, Avery Harper Bryant.

Augustine is survived by her loving and caring son, Edward (Sheila) Alvarado of Globe; her loving and caring daughter, Susie (David) Bryant of Globe, her beautiful and loving granddaughters, Sondra Alvarado of Globe and Anise (Raymond) Martinez of Gilbert; her beautiful and loving grandsons, Michael (Cecilia) Bryant of Gilbert, John (Coty) Bryant of Bismarck, N.D., Thomas (Venae) of Gilbert, and Bryan (Margie) of Gilbert.

Augustine was known as “Big Grandma” to all of her beautiful and loving great-grandchildren, Alliyah, Ethen, Serena, Marcus and Avery Harper Bryant (Sue), Isaiah and Gabriel Padilla, Isaac Aguirre, Bianca, Brooklyn and Brayline Martinez.

She was loved and appreciated by all.  Augustine also leaves behind five loving and caring sisters, Sarah Hackler, Rose Lavin, Teresa Casillas, Alice and Stella Ortega and three loving and caring brothers, John, Dutch and Pete Ortega.
