Seven teams that are all or partly composed of Apache players made it to State with high hopes as fans from Globe, Miami, Fort Thomas and White River flooded into Prescott Valley for the first round and quarterfinals.
Three teams made it to the final four who will compete on Friday, Feb. 22. All games will be played at Findlay Toyota Center in Prescott Valley.
The Globe Lady Tigers, who could beat everyone in their conference except San Carlos, went down to Chandler Prep 48-40 on Friday, Feb. 15. The Lady Braves did better. They beat Glendale Prep. 64-38 before losing to St. Johns 53-43 on Saturday.
The Tiger boys, who were also unbeaten in their conference, won 89-75 against San Manuel, but lost to Pima 83-68.
The Lady Apaches of Ft. Thomas also lost last weekend to Mogollon 53-30 after beating San Pasqual 54-51.
Meanwhile, the Alchesay boys beat Phoenix Country Day and Leading Edge Academy 54-46 and 49-45 and will play in the semi-finals against Chandler Prep at 12 p.m. on Friday, Feb 22.
The Alchesay Lady Falcons are also still in the running, having won their first two matches against Phoenix Country Day and Leading Edge 54-46 and 49-45. They will play Chandler Prep at Findlay at 1:30 p.m.
Fort Thomas boys competing against fellow 1A sized schools, won their first two games against Ash Fork Seligman (83-57) and Mohave Accelerated (60-41). They will play The Gregory School in the semi-finals on Friday at 9 a.m.
