Alice H. Taylor, age 89, of Miami, Ariz. passed away on Nov. 3, 2018 at Banner Baywood Medical Center located in Mesa. Alice, a longtime resident of Miami, was born July 21, 1929 to Josepha and Trinidad Hernandez Sr. Alice graduated from Miami High School. Her favorite pastime was talking and meeting new people. She held an assortment of jobs. As a teenager she worked as a waitress for Miami El Rey along with doing housekeeping for some of the local doctors in the area. She loved to attend the dances at Bullion Plaza. She also worked as a guard for Sleeping Beauty mine.

Around 1961 she left Miami for Tucson. In 1975 she moved back to Miami briefly, then to California where she stayed for several years. After returning to Arizona, Alice finished out her career working as a bilingual teacher. This was her passion. Alice loved the children she taught, and they loved her. She retired from the Phoenix school district and in 2010 made her home in Queen Creek with her son, Dave and his family.

Alice was a person of faith and lived life serving others. It was often said that there wasn’t a stranger that Alice didn’t know, or a smile kept to oneself. There was nothing Alice liked better than an interesting conversation with a family member or a friend, or a stranger for that matter.

She loved talking on the phone and finding out how everyone was doing. With this wonderful quality, she could have an engaging conversation with anyone. Alice was a kind and gentle person who loved spending time with family and she enjoyed life. She even made sure to send a card for all occasions. Alice’s children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and family were the pride and joy of her life. The legacy of Alice’s kind spirit, passion for family, and zest for life will live on through them.

Alice was a beautiful soul who had a warmhearted spirit. She will be greatly missed but not forgotten.

She is survived by her children, Steve (Rena) Garcia, David (Cheryl) Garcia, and Christina (Carlos) Ixcajoc Taylor; her brother Thomas Hernandez (Doloris) and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins that she loved deeply. Alice is preceded in death by her father Trinidad Hernandez Sr., her mother Josepha Hernandez, husband Ken Taylor, her children William Garcia and Theresa Gamble, brothers Frank Jimenez, Flavio Jimenez, Trinidad Hernandez and sisters Sylvia Almyda and Angelita Jimenez.

Visitation took place on Tuesday, Nov. 13, 2018 with Rosary and Mass of Christian Burial at Our Lady of the Blessed Sacrament Catholic church in Miami. Final resting place will be at the Pinal Cemetery in Central Heights
