Sheriff J. Adam Shepherd would like to release the following updated information regarding an aggravated assault investigation which occurred on February 3, 2018.
On February 3, 2018, at approximately 6:22 p.m. the Gila County Sheriff’s Office received a 911 call from an individual reporting that an unknown male subject had entered her residence and a struggle over a handgun ensued. During the struggle, the victim sustained a single gunshot wound to her lower extremities.
Deputies along with Detectives from the Gila County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigation Bureau responded to the area of Pinal View Drive in Globe, Arizona. The victim reported to detectives that she retrieved a handgun and confronted one unknown male subject, who was attempting to burglarize her residence. The victim reported that during the confrontation a struggle ensued over the handgun at which point she sustained the gunshot wound. The victim was treated on scene and later flown to Chandler where she was treated for non-life threating injuries.
The suspect in this investigation is still unknown however the updated description of the suspect describes him as a Caucasian male with about three days of facial hair growth, standing about 5’8” and last seen wearing a tan jacket and blue jeans. The handgun that was reportedly used in the assault was recovered on scene and is being held as evidence. This is an active investigation and fur-ther information may be released as it becomes available.
