John H. Hereford, age 83, passed away at The Haven of Globe on Feb. 25, 2017. He was born in Tucson, Arizona on Feb. 6, 1934 to Mary (Downend) Hereford and John (Jack) Hereford. He attended St. Peter and Paul Catholic School and graduated from Salpointe Catholic High School in 1953 in Tucson. After high school, he attended St. Michaelís College in Santa Fe, New Mexico.
John joined the U.S. Army in 1954 and was honorably discharged in 1957, at which time he returned to Tucson, Arizona. He worked for Standard Oil Company and was transferred to Globe. In 1962, he went to work for Inspiration Consolidated Copper Company, where he was an equipment operator at their Christmas Mine. When the Christmas Mine closed, he worked at Inspirationís sample plant until his retirement in 1988.
John was preceded in death by his parents; father-in-law, Harold McPherson; mother-in-law, Grace McPherson; and his sister-in-law, Karen Lawrence.
He is survived by his loving wife of 49 years, Linda Hereford; daughter, Valerie Hereford; sister, Nancy Hereford; brother, Richard (Sue) Hereford; brother-in-law, Larry (Barbara) McPherson; sister-in-law, Ellen (John) Strapac; niece, Kelly (Oscar) Andrade; and nephews Kenny (Lorie) Lawrence, Greg (Bonnie) Lawrence, Chris (Claudia) Aune and Brian McPherson.
Memorial Services for John were held at Bulman Miles Funeral Services at 237 S. Sutherland Street, Globe, Arizona, on Friday, March 3, 2017 at 10:30 a.m. Donations may be made in Johnís name to St. Peterís Lutheran Church, 630 N. Devereaux St., Globe, Arizona 85501.
