Paul Tunis and Katie Gardea help a group of third graders at Lee Kornegay Intermediate School in Miami reenact a scene from “Disney’s Beauty and the Beast.”

Miami — It’s Thursday morning at Bejarano Elementary School in Miami, and Paul Tunis and Katie Gardea are a bit flummoxed.

Tunis has asked a group of third graders what their favorite scene from “Beauty and the Beast” is, and one students has blurted out, “the kiss!” This has naturally drawn giggles from the other kids.

“I don’t think there is a kiss in the play,” Tunis says, as he looks to get back the students’ attention.

Tunis and Gardea are at Bejarano as part of the Cobre Valley Center for the Arts Outreach Program, which is bringing theater education to both Bejarano as well as Copper Rim Elementary School.
